ROSE AHRENS, M.ED., PRINCIPAL

Ms. Ahrens joined the Center Street team in 2022. She brings a strong foundation in child development and 15 years of elementary teaching experience. Before transitioning to the elementary level, she spent seven years as a middle school principal in Manhattan Beach, gaining valuable leadership experience. She earned her Master of Arts in Education from Chapman University and obtained her administrative credential from California State University, Long Beach. Her leadership background includes facilitating professional development on the California Standards in English Language Arts and leading a district-wide curriculum adoption. Dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school climate, she is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where all learners feel valued and supported.

As both a parent and an educator, Ms. Ahrens deeply understands the vital role that collaboration between school and home plays in a child's development. She believes that when educators and families work together, students receive the consistent support and encouragement they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This partnership fosters a sense of trust, belonging, and shared responsibility, ensuring that each child is seen, heard, and valued.

Beyond academic achievement, she is passionate about the integral role of social-emotional learning (SEL) in elementary education. She recognizes that a child’s ability to build relationships, regulate emotions, and develop resilience is just as important as mastering core subjects. By prioritizing SEL alongside academic instruction, she is committed to helping students develop essential life skills such as empathy, self-awareness, and problem-solving, ultimately preparing them for success both inside and outside the classroom.
